Terms of Service
These Terms of Service explain the rules for using CharterTasks as a customer, freelancer, visitor, or account holder. By accessing or using the platform, you agree to follow these terms and related CharterTasks policies.
1. Agreement to These Terms
By accessing, creating an account, posting a job, accepting work, sending messages, or using any CharterTasks feature, you agree to these Terms of Service.
If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use CharterTasks.
2. About CharterTasks
CharterTasks is a digital marketplace designed to connect customers with freelancers for local services, home services, maintenance, cleaning, tasks, and related work.
The platform may provide account tools, public profiles, private dashboards, job posting, freelancer acceptance, messaging, notifications, verification workflows, map features, payment workflows, and support tools.
3. User Roles
CharterTasks may support different user roles, including guests, customers, freelancers, and administrators.
- Guests may access public pages where allowed.
- Customers may create accounts, post jobs, manage job requests, and communicate with freelancers.
- Freelancers may create profiles, select service categories, submit verification information, and accept eligible jobs.
- Administrators may manage platform settings, review accounts, review verification documents, handle reports, and support platform operation.
4. Account Requirements
Users are responsible for keeping their account information accurate, secure, and up to date.
- You must provide accurate registration, contact, and profile information.
- You must keep login details confidential.
- You are responsible for activity that occurs through your account.
- You should notify CharterTasks if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
- You must not create false accounts, impersonate others, or submit misleading information.
5. Customer Responsibilities
Customers are responsible for submitting accurate job information and communicating clearly with freelancers.
- Provide accurate job title, category, location, budget, schedule, notes, and service details.
- Do not post illegal, unsafe, abusive, misleading, or prohibited jobs.
- Respect freelancer time, safety, privacy, and professional boundaries.
- Review freelancer profile details before proceeding with a service.
- Follow applicable payment, cancellation, refund, dispute, and platform rules.
6. Freelancer Responsibilities
Freelancers are responsible for their own profile information, service claims, work quality, legal compliance, tools, safety practices, taxes, insurance, and licensing where applicable.
- Only accept jobs you are capable of performing safely and lawfully.
- Provide accurate service category, profile, document, and verification information.
- Comply with any laws, permits, certifications, licenses, insurance, or tax obligations that apply to your services.
- Communicate professionally with customers.
- Do not accept regulated work unless you are properly qualified and permitted to perform it.
7. Independent Contractor Status
Freelancers using CharterTasks are independent service providers. They are not employees, agents, partners, or representatives of CharterTasks.
CharterTasks does not control how freelancers perform services. Freelancers remain responsible for the services they offer and perform.
8. Verification and Documents
CharterTasks may allow or require freelancers to submit identity, address, qualification, license, TRN, NVQ, TCC, POCA related documents, certifications, or other supporting documents.
Verification may help support trust, but it does not guarantee service quality, legal compliance, safety, insurance coverage, or the outcome of any job.
9. Unverified Freelancers
Some freelancers may be unverified or only partially verified. Unverified freelancers may be limited to certain job types or lower risk services depending on platform rules.
Customers should review profiles carefully and understand that using an unverified freelancer may involve additional risk.
10. Job Posting, Acceptance, and Completion
Customers may post jobs, and eligible freelancers may accept jobs through the platform. Once a freelancer accepts a job, the job may become assigned to that freelancer.
Job statuses may include pending, accepted, in progress, submitted, and completed. These status labels help organize platform workflow and do not guarantee legal completion, satisfaction, or final dispute resolution.
11. Messaging and Notifications
CharterTasks may provide messaging, inbox, notification, and email alert features to help customers and freelancers communicate about platform activity.
Users should not misuse messaging for harassment, spam, threats, fraud, discrimination, or sharing sensitive information unnecessarily.
12. Location, Maps, and Tracking
Where enabled, CharterTasks may support maps, address search, route details, ETA, distance, and tracking features.
Tracking is intended to start only after a freelancer accepts a job, where supported by platform configuration, browser permissions, device settings, and third party map services.
Map, location, ETA, and distance data may be approximate and may not always be accurate, current, or available.
13. Payments, Fees, and Refunds
Where payment features are enabled, CharterTasks may use approved third party payment providers to process service payments, refunds, cancellation fees, chargebacks, and payout workflows.
- Customers may be required to pay upfront before a job starts.
- Cancellations before freelancer acceptance may qualify for a full refund based on platform rules.
- Cancellations after freelancer acceptance may be subject to a partial refund and cancellation fee.
- Refunds, payment holds, chargebacks, and payout timing may depend on the payment provider.
- CharterTasks may charge platform fees where applicable.
14. Payouts to Freelancers
Freelancer payouts may depend on job completion, customer approval, dispute status, payment provider rules, account eligibility, and platform payout settings.
Freelancers are responsible for providing accurate payout details where payout features are enabled.
15. Disputes and Complaints
If a dispute occurs, users should provide clear information, job details, messages, screenshots, photos, receipts, and other relevant evidence.
CharterTasks may review disputes or reports, but does not guarantee any specific outcome. Some disputes may need to be resolved directly between users, with payment providers, or through legal authorities.
16. User Conduct
Users must not use CharterTasks for unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, harmful, unsafe, or misleading activity.
- No harassment, threats, hate speech, fraud, or impersonation.
- No fake documents, fake profiles, or false service claims.
- No attempts to bypass payment, verification, safety, or platform rules.
- No misuse of private information, messages, files, or location data.
- No posting or accepting work that is illegal, dangerous, or outside legal qualifications.
17. Third Party Services
CharterTasks may rely on third party services such as payment processors, map providers, hosting providers, email services, analytics tools, verification tools, or communication systems.
Third party services may have their own terms, privacy policies, fees, restrictions, delays, outages, and account requirements. CharterTasks is not responsible for third party failures or policy changes.
18. Platform Availability
CharterTasks may update, pause, restrict, remove, or change features at any time. The platform may not always be available due to maintenance, third party services, hosting issues, security updates, or technical problems.
19. Safety and Emergency Situations
CharterTasks is not an emergency response service. For immediate danger, injury, crime, medical emergency, fire, or urgent safety risk, contact the appropriate local emergency service first.
20. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CharterTasks is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or business loss damages arising from platform use, user conduct, services performed, third party services, disputes, or payment issues.
Users understand that local services may involve risk, and each user remains responsible for their own decisions, conduct, agreements, and legal obligations.
